Travel Guide | June 13, 2005 News Security forces arrest two Ethiopian human rights defenders June 13, 2005 ADDIS ABABA (June 13) – Security forces arrested on Monday two Ethiopian human rights defenders. Mr. Yared Haile Mariam and Mr.Wondimagegn Gashu, both of whom are Ethiopian Human Rights Council (EHRCO) investigators of human rights violations, were arrested in their office at about 5:30 PM Monday. Uniformed security men drove them away from their offices but their whereabouts remained unknown. This is to urge you to call on all human rights organisations, members of the international community and human rights defenders to call on the Ethiopian government to release unconditionally these two human rights defenders, the Ethiopian human rights watchdog said. On June 8th, police arrested another EHRCO human rights defender, MR Cherinet Taddese, at 9:00 PM and took him away from his home. His whereabouts is still unknown.
