Portuguese delegation to the Security Council (1997-1998); head of Section of Interests and, later, Ambassador of Portugal to Jakarta (1999-2003).

The Honorable Ana Gomes, Member of the European Parliament, and Head of the Election Monitoring Mission of the European Union to Ethiopia in May 2005 will

be in Washington DC on June 27, 2006 on a working visit.

A task force organized to Honor Ms. Gomes from various civic, political, religious, and community activist organizations in the Greater Washington DC area and

beyond, has taken this opportunity to organize an evening to thank her for her hard work and dedication in helping the people of Ethiopia in their quest and life long

aspiration for democracy and the rule of law in their country.

You are all invited to be a part of this historic event where we all will say thank you in ONE voice to a great friend of the Ethiopian people, a true friend who

understands the universality of the aspirations our people for freedom and democracy and chose to speak the truth on their behalf.
