Luxury | April 4, 2007 Video Ethiopians in Sweden call for political freedom in Ethiopia | April 4, 2007 STOCKHOLM, Sweden – Ethiopians living in various cities in Sweden on Tuesday held a protest rally against the sweeping human rights violations in their native Ethiopia. The demonstrators staged a rally infront of the Swedish Parliament, and called for the release of the leaders of the main Ethiopian opposition Kinijit, as well as all other political prisoners. The government of Prime Minister Meles Zenawi, who observers classify as worse than Zimbabwe dictator Robert Mugabe, lost a national election in May 2005 but remained in power after carrying out a nationwide crackdown that resulted in the killings, arrests and disapperances of tens of thousands of civilians in the country.
