“I am very concerned about recent reports of violence and human rights abuses in Ethiopia , and deeply troubled by the guilty verdict delivered June 11th against 38 elected officials and human rights advocates including the Mayor of Addis Ababa, Dr. Berhanu Nega.

I would like to reiterate my hope that political differences can be worked out through democratic processes, not repressive actions, and to again express my support for HR 2003, “The Ethiopian Democracy and Accountability Act of 2007.”
