Re: Seyoum Mesfin on Ethiomedia

Dear Editor,

Ethiomedia website has become my most admired reminder of the sacred Ethiopian land of Tigrai – the cradle of our civilization, custodian of eternal monument symbolizing the invaluable sacrifices there made by our forebears in fighting aggressors in defence of our own and indeed universal value of liberty and freedom.

Ethiomedia has become a cherished site for those of us who are genuinely engaged in the fight against those pathological liars and oppressive few thugs in the upper echelon of the TPLF leadership. I must therefore confess that I was perplexed to see the face of one of those irresponsible rulers on the front page of Ethiomedia, which, like millions of my fellow Ethiopians, I adore and stand to support to the best of my ability. On reflection, however, I came to my sense to say one could go to the extreme of denying freedom of the press in defence of cherished values. Freedom of the press must be respected at all costs for it is the only one at the disposal of the common man and woman for their defence against injustice.

The Minister got what he denied to others in Ethiopia. So, I salute you for doing the right thing because millions of readers of Letters to the Editor will know how much Ethiopians were, are, and will be, united to rebuff those violating their liberty and freedom. He exposed himself to the wrath of millions in posting the Press Release on your esteemed website.

The face of Minister Seyoum Mesfin looks innocent, but appearance is illusive. He is all the same one of those who unashamedly shortened Ethiopian history to 100 years, vilified Emperor Menilik II as expansionist, and undignified the illustrious heroes who scarified their lives and shed their precious blood – in effect, denying credit to the Monarch and the heroes for the Victory of the Battle of Adwa, which Victory stood as a beacon of hope for the oppressed peoples of the world.

Minister Seyoum now is the Vice President of the Millenium Organizing Committee. He is now at the forefront of a grand stealing spree of the credits of the heroes of Adwa – like as in the stolen votes of CUDP in the historic election of 15 May 2005. I could not say less about the traitors, liars, opportunists, and mothers of all evils of the few at the top of TPLF leadership basking in luxury in the oasis of poverty and injustice.

Yours truly,

Robele Ababya
