Billed as the first democratically-elected mayor of Addis Ababa following his party’s victory in 2005 but forcefully reversed by the Meles Zenawi regime, Dr. Berhanu Nega would speak in Vancouver, Canada, and cross the border south the next day for a scheduled meeting in Seattle, Washington State. In Vancouver (BC), Dr. Berhanu will speak at Cambrian Hall at Main and 17th at 3:00 PM, according to a press release by UBC Ethiopian students, sponsors of the event. In Seattle, home to a large community of Ethiopians, the prominent opposition activist would speak at New Holy Community Center on May 11, from 3:30 to 7:00PM. New Holy Community Center’s address is 7054 32nd Ave. South. The author of Ye-netsanet Goh Siked (The Dawn of Freedom), is expected to declare his political stand, and the method of struggle that needs to be waged for the reign of democracy and justice in Ethiopia.
