LONDON – Police were called in on March 19 to maintain order when Ethiopian activists showed up at a meeting that was due to be addressed by Bereket Simon, minister of communications and second-in-command in Ethiopia.

According to a report by AbbayMedia, a London-based pro-democracy website, the police who were called in to the embassy premises found nothing wrong, though disturbed TPLF supporters were taking pictures of the defiant activists.

Bereket’s plan was to address a huge meeting out of the estimated 50,000 Ethiopian residents in London.

It is also assumed that Bereket’s failed visit to London was to organize support for Meles Zenawi, who is coming to London for the April 2nd G-20 Summit on which day also faces a huge protest rally by Ethiopians living in various European countries.

AbbayMedia said secretly-invited guests who had come to the embassy returned away immediately once they saw the activists confronting supporters of the tyrannical TPLF regime.

In the absence of public meeting, Bereket idled his time with about 20 TPLF lackeys.

Under the Meles-Bereket regime since 1991, Ethiopia remains mired in political and economic crises.

According to a CIA report, Ethiopia’s 41 percent is the second worst inflation rate in the world. Zimbabwe sags beneath 11.2 million percent.
