Public Announcement

Since the historic May elections, the Meles regime has resorted to reversing the victories of the first democratic elections ever held in Ethiopia. The regime has turned Ethiopia into a big prison where its citizens live in fear and terror. Many innocent citizens, including children and elderly women have been murdered in cold blood, tortured and detained en masse.

Those who have mobilized and preached to the Ethiopian people to have faith in peaceful struggle and democratic elections have now lost their freedom. Prominent patriots including professors, lawyers, engineers, journalists, teachers and human rights campaigners who have contributed so much to the nation are being abused by the oppressive regime shackled in harsh jails and concentration camps across Ethiopia. Adding insult to injury, these brave men and women are persecuted and tortured in kangaroo courts charged with genocide and treason.

Ethiopians across the world need to continue their peaceful struggle and speak out loud and clear to bring about an end to the destructive despotism that is dragging the nation to another cycle of destruction and bloodshed.

Working in collaboration with our handful but vibrant media outlets and other democratic forces, Addisvoice.com will contribute its due share to the irreversible changes that Ethiopia is undergoing despite the mammoth challenges ahead to make dictatorship history.

Freedom is not a commodity charitably donated by dictators who do not even bother to respect their own constitution. Freedom is God given that must be defended at any cost. Well informed and enlightened citizens, never surrender their God given freedoms to those who live in fear of justice.

Happy first year anniversary of the birth of democracy and the defeat of dictatorship.

Truth and justice prevail.
