FRANKFURT, Germany – Ethiopians took to the streets of this German city over the weekend and protested against the continued human rights violations in their native country.
Rally organizers said the event was organized in remembrance of the June and November 2005 massacres committed upon the orders of Meles Zenawi, a tyrant who lost an election in 2005 but remained in power after launching a brutal crackdown on opposition party leaders, journalists, civic workers and terrorized the entire civil society.
“Eventhough Kinijit was a clear winner of the national election, Meles Zenawi ordered the murder of 193 ethiopians in cold blood in the aftermath of the 2005 election. Mothers, fathers, relatives and friends of those who died while demanding for justice will never forget their loved ones,” according to a statement sent to the media by rally organizers.
The activists, who burned the photo of Meles Zenawi in front of the TPLF Consulate in Frankfurt, chanted the following slogans:
Free all political prisoners in ethiopia.
No financial support without respect of human rights in ethiopia
Stop Land Grab in Ethiopia
Meles zenawi who lost election must resign
Stop all forms of racism ethnic division of ethiopians.
