Apology over Menzuma

Dear friends of Ethiomedia,

Lalibela Church

In the political Menzuma which had been briefly posted on Ethiomedia a few days ago, there was a line that ended up tarnishing the good name of Lalibela and its country folks. Though the Menzuma was posted in good faith as part of the political literature opposed to the tyrannical regime of Meles Zenawi, Ethiomedia deeply regrets that it failed to catch the line that inadvertently ended up tarnishing the good image of our Ethiopian compatriots living in and around Lalibela. As we have done it time and again, Ethiomedia takes pride and defends with unshakable integrity any part of Ethiopia – let alone Lalibela out of which the rock-hewn churches not only constitute the treasure of ancient Ethiopian civilization but also the contemporary World Heritage of Humankind.

The song, which we thought was sent to us or even composed by Artist Tamagne Beyene, was later found out to have been composed by “Johnny of Europe.” The error is regretted. In the meantime, hirelings loyal to the anti-Ethiopian tyrant may try to sow the seeds of hate and discord over the error. We shouldn’t be surprised. It is their job.

Respecfully,
Editor
