However, one issue that is bugging/bothering me is the “Timing” of the political tours of the leaders of Kinijit before and now Medrek. I do not want to dwell in the past and go in details as to how many CUD supporters were concerned when almost the whole “Executive body” of Kinijit were out to USA, UK, etc… before even they had met many of the supporters at home. I have been in Ethiopia twice since 2005, and many Ethiopians were unhappy as to why these many officials came to the west immediately after their release from prison. They were saying that they left Kinijit without any leadership in the country. If it was to raise funds or say “Thank you” to Ethiopians in the west, it would have been appropriate to send a few delegates. (please don’t assume I am reflecting Eng. Hailu’s view but that of mine and others that I know )
As we all know, Medrek has decided to participate in the election in May 2010. Once again (Deja vue?) almost all the key leaders of the different political groups who formed Medrek are in the USA at the exact time that they are supposed to canvas and mobilise the people to elect their candidates. In my opinion, we are once again committing a grave political mistake. I suggest you or the supporters in the USA to advise them to return home and be among their electorates.
