It was with a great surprise and shock that I read a letter to the Editor by a person who calls himself “AW”. I want to itemize his letter and then my response follows.
AW in his letter second paragraph wrote as follows:
Here is the crucial issue. The writer is not at all interested (or seemingly not interested) in the “essence of the subject matter.” It is laughable! He is interested in the language used to state the truth, the whole truth nothing but the truth. It is ridiculous. AW for sure knows the essence of the subject matter my article dealt with for almost two years. He knows the ex CEO of ETC is corrupt and politically affiliated with the TPLF regime. He wrongly felt like defending dirt while we are trying to tide up that very dirt which spoiled the environment for three solid years. The sole evidence for this allegation is his own letter.
AW’s letter again in the second paragraph reads as follows:
Apolitical my foot!!! Does the writer has the slightest idea as to where Tesfaye Biru is assigned after ejected from ETC? I urge him to read today’s (June 11, 2006) CAPITAL’ weekly English newspaper. CAPITAL reported today Tesfaye Biru is assigned as an Advisor to the Prime Minister. Do you, in your wildest imagination, imagine Meles Zenawi, vicious as he is, allows any passer by to sit next to him and be his advisor???!!! Hey, please give me a break. I don’t like such a silly joke. You tried to defend your buddy though he is helplessly indefensible corrupt thug.
The writer, if he has the gut , had to attack the substance I wrote about. His whole focus is on the words used and he is not comfortable with phrases like “soulless prick”. What else do you call a person who loots the poorest of the poor to bleeding? What else you call a person who advises murderous despots like Meles Zenawi? It is very amazing Tesfaye Biru himself didn’t at all so far try to drop a line or two to Ethiomedia denying any of the allegation. Why Tesfaye Biru so sneaky and uses his living nom de plume to evade the issue?
I am quite positive the writer is a close comrade of Tesfaye Biru. This guy is the first in my solid two years’ struggle who tried to defend the indefensible in such a subtle manner. The other guys tried openly but went back to their shells for all my allegations in my article were/are abundantly evidence-supported. I wish I could write a lengthy response. But the letter doesn’t even deserve a response, much less a lengthy one.
I want to advise AW to make his independent inquiry about the subject matter and try to prove me wrong, if he can. I want to inform him we are a group of nine telecom experts fighting corruption within ETC. I want to inform him too that we are very close to tracking down Tesfaye Biru’s bank account in his wife’s name. I want to inform AW that Tesfaye Biru has let many honest employees of ETC suffer a lot. We have no personal grudge against him. We are rather still active in the ETC and I assure you he would be taken by surprise when he one day knows our identity in liberated Ethiopia.
Finally, I urge AW to visit our website, which is
dedicated to fight corrupt officials in ETC. I want to tell AW that
he has no moral authority to write such a letter focusing on the cosmetics of a subject matter instead of the subject matter itself.
We are here in Ethiopia at the center of events facing all the brutal acts of TPLF. Last but not least we are not at a time when we can gloss over TRUTH and resort to innuendos on choice of words and phrases. AW’s intention actually is not on the words and phrases used to expose corruption. AW’s main intention is to try to polish the tarnished image of Tesfaye Biru. It is truly tragic we do have such wolves in sheep skin who are sanctimonious demagogues parading as level headed.
I have been following your relentless effort to expose these greedy mafia underlings. Don’t let up! Let the friifari lekames scream all they want with their letter to the editor. Mighty funny the self righteous Woyane is not indignant enough to sign his name. You have raffled many feathers, maybe it is don meles himself who wrote the letter.
Don’t let these criminals intimidate you. Keep up the good work! We have to make sure that these creatures of the gutter will not be able to live off the looted money anywhere on planet earth. You are doing your patriotic duty and I hope some of
our lawyers will take it from here.
