Ethiopian American Council (EAC) alert for Action

EPRDF has moved its force into Addis Ababa University and Commerce College, and taken hundreds of students, who were staging peaceful demonstrations against election irregularities, to undisclosed locations. High schools throughout Addis Ababa are closed. Excessive force is being used to squash students throughout Addis Ababa. The situation is extremely fluid and might spread to the rest of the country.

The Ethiopian Americans Council (EAC) calls on you to immediately contact your local Representatives in Congress and urge them to condemn the brutal use of force against innocent students in Addis Ababa.

The Ethiopian Americans Council (EAC) also would like to appeal to the Ethiopian Student Association International (EASi) and other student associations in the Diaspora to show solidarity with students in Ethiopia.

Call your local and national media to ask them to cover the breaking story.

This is the time to show solidarity with those who are fighting to bring about democracy in Ethiopia.

Democracy shall prevail!
