Grand demonstration to extend from Addis to Toronto

By Staff Reporter (The Bell : December 28, 2004)

LOS ANGELES – A grand mass demonstration scheduled to be held on January 2, 2005 here in Little Ethiopia, Fairfax blvd, Los Angeles, California is expected to involve Ethiopians of all walks of life in L.A, in a march in which they vow to express their indignation and furious objection to the government of Meles Zenawi that is engaged in what they say “an act of espionage, sabotage and sale out of Ethiopian borders of all corners.”

A provisional committee that initiated the march on the side walks between Olympic Blvd and Pico Blvd says it has already obtained permit for the demonstration on Sunday January 2, 2005 and on January 3, 20005. On the latter day the provisional Committee saysEthiopians will demonstrate in front of the Federal Building in West Wood, Los Angeles between 2.00 and 6.00 PM. To ensure perfection all supporters of opposition parties and NGOs shall work in collaboration forming a major committee in a meeting to be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2005. The parties include the newly formed Coalition of opposition parties AEUP, EDUP-Medihin, Keste Demena and EDL as well as the Union of Ethiopian Democratic Forces (UEDF) better known as the “Hibret.” This will be the first time that all opposition parties stand together and march hand in hand against the totalitarian regime of Ethiopia under the personality of Meles Zenawi. Ethiopia has been made landlocked when Eritrea seceded with the blessing of Melese Zenawi and the aid of his Woyane militiamen who massacred thousands of Ethiopian soldiers fighting on the side of seceding forces.

The Grand demonstration extends from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, that will be held on Sunday at Masqal Sq. and will go on in some Canadian and American cities, including Washington D.C, and Toronto, other than the greatly expected Los Angeles city concurrent with the Addis Ababa March. Ethiopians in San Diego will join their compatriots in Los Angeles and some are even expected to come from Fresno and San Jose, organizers say. The committee urges all Ethiopians in Los Angeles, Washington D.C and Toronto to actively participate in the demonstration and show their concern and confirm that they will not simply sit and see when their beloved country is adversely affected. Ethiopia has been and remains to be the land of the brave that protected it from colonial invaders and sabotaging insiders.

It is to be recalled that P.M Meles Zenawi’s government has reconsidered its objections of the decision of the Haigs on Ethio-Eritrea border and called for negotiation that is likely to give up its claim on Bademe. It also promised to award the Sudan with a chunk of land cut from the Ethiopian side of Humara at the north West Ethio-Sudan border.
