Ethiopians of all stripes have begun this re claiming freedom journey in earnest thanks to the inspiration of our brothers and sisters in Tunisia and Egypt. And, my fellow Ethiopians, know this “If we are thinking, we are indeed winning.” I took the title of my piece from a song titled “We are winning”. Here are some of the lyrics:
We are building up a new world
Do not sit idly by
Do not remain neutral
Do not rely on this broadcast alone
We are only as strong as our signal
There is a war going on for your mind
If you are thinking you are winning
Resistance is victory
Defeat is impossible
Your weapons are already in hand
Reach within you and find the means by which to gain your freedom
Fight with tools
Your fate and that of everyone you know depends on it
There are obvious clues that we indeed are beginning to win.
In just the past week, the EPRDF led government announced it will continue taking all the necessary measures to control price hikes. Fear is spreading in the corridors of power in Addis.
The mouth piece of EPRD/TPLF, Aiga Forum, is busy trumpeting fresh propaganda against the Eritrean government. The Minsitry of Foreign Affairs of the EPRDF government has just put out a communication stating that “…Prime Minister Meles has reiterated time and again that the international community is not Ethiopia’s last line of defence against Eritrea’s destabilizing activities. Ethiopia will, as always, continue to take measured responses to these attacks. At the same time, there wouldn’t be any harm in Eritrea’s leaders realizing that there is always a limit to patience.”
Today’s report from Ethiopia that the regime’s security policy picked up Eskinder and warned him to ‘cease and desist’ from writing is a clear evidence that the government is leery of what befall it when the people arises in unison.
My Fellow Ethiopians, this is not the time to get distracted. All these propaganda is a scheme designed by Meles Zenawi to once again draw the Ethiopian people into war with our Eritrean brothers and sisters. Meles Zenawi needs to know we won’t be distracted with his bogus price control or the fake threat of war from Eritrea. We have resolved to first secure and re cliam our liberty.
