Indian maid burned to death

Dubai – An Indian maid in Kuwait was murdered by her colleague from Ethiopia who then set fire to the house to hide her crime.

The maid, who was not identified, was killed after a fight betweent the two maids.

Police arrested the culprit who was working for the same sponsor, reported Al-Qabas daily.

The daily added the Ethiopian maid was taken into custody after the charred remains of the victim were referred to the forensic department and a report showed the victim died of a blow to the head.

During interrogation the maid allegedly admitted to hitting the victim on the head with a hard object and when the victim died she set fire to the outhouse.

Teachers from Ethiopia in return visit

LONDON – Four Ethiopian teachers from two secondary schools spent the week visiting Seaford Head Community College (SHCC) and other schools in the Sussex area.

The visit was part of a programme organised by the British Council and Youth Sport Trust, and followed two visits by SHCC to Ada Model School in the town of Debra Zeit.

The aim of the programme is to support the development of sports leadership skills in schools around the world. Activities during the week included visiting both of the local community colleges and partner primary schools, including Chyngton School and Cradle Hill Community Primary School.

Cultural visits included day trips to London and Brighton, where great fun was had on the London Eye and on Brighton Pier.
The headteacher from SHCC hosted a cream tea for all four teachers, as well as staff and students.
