ADDIS ABABA – A recent wedding ceremony in Addis Ababa almost came to a sour end when guests refused to join a buffet in the presence of Lidetu Ayalew – a political turncoat who broke the hearts of millions of Ethiopians.
The bride and groom along with their best men and women savored the dishes but no one was willing to pick up plates thereafter. Expectations of a lavish feast and merry-making were taken over by an erie silence, prompting the wedding couple to make a courtesy request that the man publicly known to have been hired by the government to destroy Kinijit leave the place immediately.
Once hailed as a champion of the people’s cause for democracy and freedom, Lidetu suffered a disgraceful fall when the public found out he was the double-agent of Ethiopia’s most reviled tyrant, Meles Zenawi.
