Misinformation by Mr. ZenawiDear Editor, Please kindly allow me to convey the following to your website visitors. First, I would like to thank Ethiomedia for the invaluable service it offers to its visitors at this critical time of our history. You are one of the most trusted media for disseminating reliable information concerning Ethiopia. I also appreciate your dedication for taking the time to expose the dirty tricks of Meles Zenawi regarding the Yara Prize. By so doing, you have provided us clear evidence for the habitual lies of Mr Zenawi, which he uses day in and day out to misinform the world about his administration and the opposition. It can also be recalled that, like Mr Bereket Simon’s office which misquoted the statements of Mr. Tim Clarke and others last week to deliberately misinform people, approximately a month ago, Mr Zenawi was caught lying to BBC’s Hard Talk interviewer Stephen about what former US President Jimmy Cater said regarding the processes of the recent election in Ethiopia. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank those brave Ethiopians and the other fellows who made it possible to get the eight Ethiopian air force pilots out of Belarus to a safer place elsewhere. Like millions of Ethiopians, I am also in admiration and support of the right and courageous decision made by the opposition parties, CUD and UEDF, to stand by the side of Ethiopian people by rejecting the bogus election results issued by the pro-Zenawi NEB recently. The Ethiopian people should be proud of all of you. Speaking of prize, I want to bring to the attention of readers that sometime in March this year on C-SPAN-2 cable TV, I watched Professor Jeffrey Sachs admiring Mr Zenawi in front of World Bank staff audience for his efforts to reduce poverty in Ethiopia. Professor Sachs suggested that the primary cause of the poverty in poor countries like Ethiopia is the lack of resources rather than the lack of good governance. In my opinion, this is largely untrue, as far as Ethiopia is concerned, and the Professor might have been misinformed/misguided by Mr Zenawi about the situation in Ethiopia. As we all know, the regime of Mr Zenawi is one of worst in the world regarding human rights and economic developments, while the country is endowed with abundance of natural resources. For a seriously concerned person, the records are there to prove this. Given the sneaky nature of the government of Mr Zenawi, and the important role of Professor Sachs in the UN Millennium Project and his connection to the Yara Foundation, it is likely that the Professor was involved in the nomination of Mr Zenawi for the Yara Prize. It is, therefore, important that all aspects of considerations should be taken to defuse the lies of Mr Zenawi and to tell the truth about him and the country he claims to lead by deception.
