Little Ethiopia is pleased to present NuNu Wako, an Ethiopian-born, American-raised international model, for the July 12th Ethio-Mixer USA. Nunu has gained a reputation among the Ethiopians in the Diaspora for taking the lead in covering Ethiopian/African festivities and important occasions. Nunu was first introduced to Little Ethiopia while emceeing for an Ethiopian Cultural Festival in Maryland, since then we have followed her activities as she covered events in the US Congress, University of Maryland, One to One with Tamirat Mekonnen,Director of TIKUR SEW, a Word or Two with the Ethiopian Women’s Soccer Team , the NuNu Wako Show and Moderating the Dialogue on “ Tourism in Ethiopia and the continent of Africa at Large” by Historian /Archaeologist Dr.Yohanas Zeleke and Cultural Ambassador of Africa Mr. Matt Andrea at the June Ethio-Mixer USA that was held in the Dukem Ethiopian Restaurant in Washington, DC.

Nunu is an entrepreneur and a committed humanitarian who has been featured in copious magazines throughout the United States and abroad who has completed several fashion shows for clothing brands such as Baby Phat, Sean Jean, and Roca Wear, and appeared in various commercials for companies such as DTLR. She was crowned the 2009/2010 Beauty for Jamati.com and African Heat’s Sexiest African Women Alive.

These diverse experiences have provided her the opportunity to be exposed to the domestic and international community. Consequently, NuNu has utilized this opportunity to embark upon her vision of empowering young people, especially girls. By maximizing the opportunities presented by the entertainment industry and her extensive network. NuNu Wako is dedicated to moving issues involving Africa to the forefront through NuNu Wako Show in partnership with EBST TV Global, her assorted partnerships with related organizations and companies as well as all her endeavors. NuNu says “We are all driven by our personal objectives, and my commitment to speak out against the violations of universal human rights occurring all over the globe, particularly on the continent of Africa is more than an ambition, it’s my enduring passion.”

NuNu is currently the spokesperson for Ivorian Hope, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping Ivorian war victims in Cote d’Ivoire, as well as acting as a Peace Ambassador for Peace Through Culture. Presently, she sits on the Advisory Board for FEM (Fashion Empowering Women) and acts as a Goodwill Ambassador with McDella Cooper Foundation’s L’Africana Campaign. “Empowering women, aiding in the development of children in an assortment of ways that secures a healthy socialization and development is a dear cause to my heart,” says NuNu Wako.
