Response to Obo Robele Ababya

By Degebassa Feyissa | January 8, 2012

Note: Readers of these
comments should understand that, I do not have any objection or support of the splinter
group (except suspicion based on Robele’e article) until I learn what
their intention is. The purpose of my comment is to respond to “Robele
Ababya” who triggered me to react. He deliberately made us suspicious to
question the relationship of the faction with other allies. This manipulative
move seems poor and dangerous, if not corrected.

Obo Robele,

I want you read your own article on ethiomedia.com (Title
“A Bold Move”) again to understand why I, may be other Oromos and
non Oromos having clear conscience, have infuriated. As an audience we may not clearly
know what is going on in America, or abroad. But, it is embarrassing when
somebody tries to undermine Oromo as a group and try to operate their mind or
on their behalf unfairly. Those factions are there; let them talk what they
want to say. We are listening and reading as audiences, do not forget. You
article is totally against free Oromo movements. In Amharic there is a say
“ Yemetadu kerto Yenkibu tentata”.

Please, read part of your own article, a poison marinated
deliberation and my comments on your opinion.

“In my opinion, the new OLF leadership should do
more to earn the trust, respect and admiration of the Ethiopian people. It
should keep in mind the unique reality that the majority of the Ethiopian
people comprise children born of mixed ethnic parentage; true love crosses the
ethnic divide.” ……..I also expect the acronym OLF to be dropped in
time because the burning agenda henceforth is to liberate Ethiopia from the
iron grip of the brutal Stalinist regime of Meles Zenawi.” Robele Ababya

In your case, being mixed you let go political freedom
and should not fight to liberate yourself from tyrant, or oppressors. If
someone has a bloodline of an oppressor he/she can’t stand against the
system of operation. This does not take us anymore, Oromo is not a racist, and
racism is different from national movements. The national movement is a
movement of lost dignity, power and freedom and democracy. Call it with any way
it is a struggle for freedom. Whether they are mixed or not they will fight and
line up against subjugation, why do not you join rather than counting and
talking about your ancestors and blowing a trumpet of racist nature. We do not
want you to tell us what we know. Oromos shall not be denied his/her right and
liberty (they are denied as a group) because of inter-marriage and mixed ethnic
parentage. Do not forget, Marriage did not stop B/General Taddesse Birru and
others from fighting for freedom and equality. Nor Taddesse Birru’s
children regret about their father’s bravery.

.” ……..I
also expect the acronym OLF to be dropped in time because the burning agenda
henceforth is to liberate Ethiopia from the iron grip of the brutal Stalinist
regime of Meles Zenawi.” Robele Ababya

 Are you planning
to handover the Oromo people to another form of Tyrant? Yeche nat Chewata!
tebal ende? I can imagine how much you are terrified of OLF and even the
acronym OLF. You are not the only one. TPLF also does, that acronym and the
truth behind it is a nightmare even to Meles. Why do you want it to fade away?
Are you a messenger of TPLF/Meles? I can understand your problem is not the
acronym but afraid of the truth behind the acronym. Whatever you try, OLF as an
acronym never be dropped from the Oromos heart and mind, because, it stands for
truth, equality, justice and democracy. Size and intricacy of
propaganda and lies you are disseminating will never bring change
to Oromos’ true feeling to OLF and his attribution for the struggle
against Amhara Tyrants. I can understand your move. Your new group cannot
legally acquire the acronym OLF, as it is illegal and defected group.
Therefore, you are going to furnish them a placebo so that it
can cheat the fools. Then you come again and tell us “beyee
neber/ alakuachehum/? How long you people think your audiences are not smart
enough to understand your involvedness?

“In my
opinion, the new OLF leadership should do more to earn the trust, respect and
admiration of the Ethiopian people.” Robele Ababya

I can tell from your marinated message, where you
wanted to go. We have enough experience how TPLF recruited OPDO, please do not
use the same old strategy, copy and pest. Why does the “new group” need
trust and appreciation from Ethiopian? Moreover being an Ethiopian and if they
are on the genuine way to democracy, justice and freedom,
why? I can see from your tone you yourself see the Oromos as an alien to
Ethiopia. Political parties should not work for admiration; unless they are led
by others or your “teletafi”. Do you think your tone signifies
maturity? No! It indicates the hidden agenda behind this apparently plot
of nullifying strong Oromo movement. As an Oromo and Ethiopian, we are
watching and waiting what would come out of what you call “A bold move”.
By the way what do you have in mind to call your new group? “ Dagem OPDO,
or Tinishwa OPDO or OPDO beAmerica?” These might also not good to you. You
do not want to see the Alphabet O representing Oromo. Could you call it EPDO,
APDO or HPDO??

Why do you think changing or dropping the acronym OLF
makes others happy unless you want to fade the achievements and popularity of Oromo
people’s movements? What matters is their political agenda, the truth
which will never be hidden forever. Do you know how long it takes to bring
Justice Equality and Democracy in South Africa? And, how old is African
National Congress (ANC)? Mandala (Madeba) the founding father of modern SA, was
elected as first democratic president in 1994 (GC); 83 years after the birth of
ANC. ANC has celebrated its 100th years of struggle movement in this
January. Why this long? The reason was, the oppressors tried to shorten it but could
not keep the truth concealed forever. One can try, as you are doing now, but
the truth triumph what so ever.

 Being Oromo
and Ethiopian, who seek to be free of domination I shall not allow anybody
blocks our way. I can understand your source of insecurity, you may think,
if Oromo gain power it will become the same oppressor as TPLF. But, I have not
read history of freedom fighters that was fighting to oppress,
to revert, and follow the path of his oppressors on its own people, except
Abyssinian History (Zemene Mesafent). Do not give TPLF as an example of freedom
fighter who become an oppressor. Understand TPLF is the last generation of the
previous oppressors (Abyssinian) to the people of Oromo or the southern
Ethiopian (What do you say in Amharic?” “Yezeren Yezerzregn yebal
yele lemin yekrebet” there was nothing new to Oromo”). The problem
is you and your types of people are insecure and work hard, to keep the people
of Oromo under your domination using old fashioned divisive tactics. Let me ask
you. What is the deference between what you are doing in “creating or
supporting” the new group (you can name it whatever you want) from what
TPLF has been doing to divide the people of Oromo. What was the difference between
New and old OLF besides “secessionist” agenda, which I do not
believe as a difference? I am expecting the response from the faction group on
the last question, not from you Obo Robele. We want to learn more from the new
group and the old group, not from the side group like “Robele
Ababya.”

Please, we do not bring Ethiopian Unity by cheating and
manipulating the Oromos. You are running politics but it should base on equality,
truth, justice and democracy. Your problem is you do not want to bring unity by
accepting the truth and respecting others ((as I have noticed from your
article, (only this article, it does not refer what I read before)). You are
trying to follow the same path TPLF has been following. Do not tell me to be an
Ethiopian which every Oromo is; taking the word Ethiopia as a country. Do not
forget Southern Sudanese were Sudanese before June 2011. Do not worm your way
in the nationality to ethnic group.
If you are trying to lecture me equating Ethiopia to Abyssinia, and all
Ethiopians are Habesha, then suggest to “your new group” to change
its name to HLF (Habesha Liberation Front) “to earn the trust, respect
and admiration of the Ethiopian people”. I do not know in this case who
liberates who since TPLF as a ruling party is from Habesha heritage. I expected
this was your move. You can give them directive to do so. “Yezefen dar
daru iskista neew”

Obo Robele!  I
expect more positive attitude towards each other among different ethnic groups
in Ethiopia to build Ethiopia, as a country for all, with equal rights and
freedom and democracy. Your type of shrewdness will disintegrate it. If you do
not want to hear about the Oromos struggle even the historical names, that is
your right but please do not try to hate us as a group. Hatred, insecurity and
disrespectful attitudes will never lead to Unity.

Thank you for your patience.

Degebassa Feyissa.
