The judges and the whole court system never been independent, and have always been under direct order from TPLF’s leadership. The judges are incompetent, inexperienced and are most lack formal education. Those judges, with formal educations and self-confidence of their propensity to serve the public had long abandoned the corrupt justice system of the country. Today the Ethiopian people live under gunpoint by brutal dictatorship of the TPLF without justice.
In fact, had there been a scintilla in propriety of the justice system, it would be the TPLF’s leaders and its henchmen to serve prison time for atrocities they have committed against non armed civilian population. Here, let me outline a few examples why TPLF leaders ought to be in jail:
Retrospectively, just in brief, TPLF have not only massacred numerous Amahars, but also had thrown off the cliff live of the members of this ethnic group. Under night cover the TPLF security forces went house to house, abducting members of this group in a numerous occasions, and to date, no information whereabouts of these men. These evil acts have taken place in boundless; all over the country, and that eventually impelled Dr. Asrat and prominent leaders to form an All Amahara party to defend, rather peacefully against the killings of Amahras. For advocating peace and democracy, with fallacious charges, the TPLF court imprisoned Dr. Asrat, and he subsequently contracted an illness in a prison that led to his death. Such atrocities against Amahras amount to the crime of Genocide/ Interahamwe (please, see at the end), which now TPLF is wrongly accusing the CUD leaders. The hate propaganda such as Amahara and Neftagnas are always conveyed on TPLF’s messages. That includes addressing Ethiopian Orthodox Church in such a way to a demeaning statements bent to incite violence against this ethnic group. Because of its policy of provocation, there are numerous reports of violent clashes among ethnics and religious groups in every parts of the country.
How many names can we go through the list of criminal acts committed by the TPLF, and individuals that have been imprisoned in fallacious charges?
Subsequently, atrocities continue to be committed by the TPLF leaders against citizens:
TPLF’s security force shot and killed, have had abducted members of the Teacher’s association, journalists and other civic leaders.
Since TPLF had set its foot on Addis Ababa, Universities’ and high schools’ students are under unremitting harassment and many had lost their lives.
The mascaras that took place in Kembata, and in a southern part of the country, which includes; Geddeo, Sidama, Welitta and Gambella are inconceivable, and well documented.
Because of its stiff control of Tigray province, no information is available for the public and only time will tell how many are lost their lives.
Soon after OLF and TPLF honeymoon was over in early nineteen ninety, the TPLF security forces have been hunting down members of the OLF. In this course of action, many Oromo civilians have been murdered. The same is true in Ogaden, ONLF. Both of these organizations were best friends to TPLF, now labeled terrorist. What that makes TPLF? Was TPLF a rebellious group who raised arms against state or a peaceful movement took power with popular election? Does TPLF respect the rule of law and constitution of the land? Likewise, why others have to respect his law, when TPLF itself is in contempt? Thus must be answered by TPLF leaders?
Obviously, these are more than enough of the evidence to convict the brutal dictator of the TPLF leaders of genocide (please, see at the end) and human right violations.
More over, in the incidences related to an election massacre in a 2005, over 40, 000 civilians heaved to concentration camps and 200 were killed by TPLF’s especial force called Agazi. These figures are happened to be only in the cities as it were known to media, but can go beyond to what had been reported.
Most of us had a chance to follow the day’s news and information, have seen electronic documentation of election debate. I found, at no time the CUD leaders have said or wrote anything about genocide or statement of abomination. Rather, all along, they (CUD leaders) time after time urge about peace, democracy, a plan of solution to economic development, enhancing better education and health sectors to citizens, to which, TPLF has no clue about, for years of its control of power. However, prior to election, the TPLF leaders made public statements and acts of intimidation. The charges of “genocide/ inerahamwe, to overthrow the constitution and treason are the languages used by TPLF leaders well before the CUD members were arrested and charged. That means, it was long, well planned to put these leaders behind bars.
Again, according to TPLF, the constitution is not what we all know of the highest low of the land, but it is in reference to the leaders of TPLF, as they have stated “to overthrow the constitutions”. They (TPLF) went further, alleging the CUD party “raising arm against constitutional Government”. When did that happen? Was it after they were imprisoned? The country’s constitution duly disrespected by the judges who overseen these cases. The judges have not uttered the responsibilities and duties vested upon them by the constitution, while they serve their masters to commit the crimes against humanity. By doing so, they denied the rights of defendants and ultimately convicting them on fallacious charges. In any rate, falsifying, tempering evidence and giving false witness (perjure), are a federal crime. Is there justice? Well, as their master said, you too will have your “day on court”. Thus, persecutors are liable for presenting deceptive evidence opt to mislead a court to propitiate over the law intended to cover up the misdeed of TPLF.
Having said the above statements, let me turn my attention to “treason” charge. We all know that TPLF fought a war against Ethiopia; siding with the enemy of the country. Everybody knew, the TPLF leaders stood against an interest, albeit endangering the security of the country. We also know that TPLF spent significant amount of Ethiopian’s money lobbying for Eritrean independence, and at last had put its own signature for ceding Eritrea. Since this never has been a secret, the top TPLF leader again reminded us, in his corroborated testimony, even today, TPLF can fight Eritrean enemy, which of course he was meant Ethiopia. He further elaborated the TPLF’s belligerency; “gold and dust cannot mix”, and “dust” being “CUD leaders when asked about reconciliation. Well, gold came out of dust in a process of refinement. The CUD leaders are well refined, brilliant, intelligent men and women. They are the brightest and gallant men and women the country has produced. Millions of people are emulating them not to flinch for belligerents and detectors. These men and woman are willing to work with dust and have relentlessly extended their offer to reconcile to bring peace and democracy. They have abandoned their livelihood of lavish lifestyles for the sake of transforming and better the standard of living for the poor.
Therefore, treason is the form of highest crime, which is the crime that endangers the security and territorial integrity of one country. The CUD leaders, neither gave territorial land nor sold the security of the land for aliens. However, it is other way around, the TPLF leaders are ought to be held responsible for treason and all crimes detailed.
The opposition party leaders (CUD) are legally elected by the people, to have them imprisoned and convicting is ought to be considered to convict all the people of Ethiopia, and the people should not sit and quit. Human right activists and journalist jailed by TPLF had committed no crime except reporting the deeds and faults, the violation of human rights in the country.
Now, where can we go from here? Is there room for peace? Of course, there is room for peace, and it all depends upon the will of submissiveness in part of TPLF and accepting a peaceful reconciliation.
I have a piece of advice to the leadership of the TPLF, arrogance and hegemonies behavior never helped any leaders, though seemingly strong and mighty. We learn that in history, without going far, TPLF’s predecessor Dergue is a good example.
All prisoners of conscious; CUD leaders, members of opposition party, human right activists and journalist must be released immediately without any preconditions. Consequently, all inclusive party dialogue should be held to reconcile the society.
I have a word to say for the rest of Ethiopians, let be bygone is bygone for the purpose of confidence building for peace and democracy. Thus is only when the leaders of TPLF are ready to be subservient to rule of law, peace and democracy. .
Though, had TPLF chose to be defiant for a call to make peace, and opt to keep the opposition party leaders (CUD), human right activists and journalist in the prisons. It is therefore, all obligations and responsibilities rest upon the people of Ethiopia to free their leaders. A well plan of action must be placed, in unison with one action one language to free these leaders ultimately bringing peace and democracy to Ethiopia.
Definition:
Interahamwe: I happen to be in Rwanda and Burundi, unfortunately did not learn the Kinyarwanda/ Kurindi. However, Interahamwe, expert in Kinyarwand say it is miss pronounced by other linguistic speakers. It is a motto initiated by Hutu leaders in Rwanda. The leader of the country was the president of the origination, its parliamentarians were ethnic Hutu dominate, and militias are all from this group and under the slogan of Interahamwe. The organization has media outlet spreading its hate propaganda.
The word literally can be translated, to stand together, work or fight together. The practical interpretation is to stand, work and fight to gather to physically element a Tussi ethnic group. How can we relate Interahamwe to TPLF’s organization and the Agazi special force?
Genocide: is either a systematical or a well planned, deliberate acts or with an intention to destroy a nation, inflicting physical harm of a person or groups of people, denying liberty, health, etc. including destruction of a political institute, culture and source of revenue to individuals. It is universally accepted that any of the following acts of crime. “Killing of members of the group, serious bodily and mental harm, a calculated economic hardship to physical destruction, preventing births” and etc. Genocide has a wide definition, please read the literature or consult legal expert on international law.
How can we relate a regime of the TPLF criminal acts in Ethiopia with a genocide crime?
Is there legal ramification; would be an option to bring the TPLF leaders to international court, and those citizens who lost their lives and economic hardships by the action of TPLF to be compensated out of TPLF’s business account and endowment?
