Video: Tesfatsion Medhanie speaks about political repression in Eritrea

KASSEL, Germany – Professor Tesfatsion Medhanie, noted for his scholarly works aimed at bringing the Eritrean and Ethiopian peoples closer together, and an outspoken critic of the government of Eritrean President Isaias Afewerki, addressed an audience in Kassel, Germany on August 1, 2009.

“It has been almost 20 years since Eritrea has been declared independent,” said Tesfatsion, speaking in his usual down-to-earth manner, adding “but Eritrea has become a hell on earth since then.” (He doesn’t spare the tyrannical regime of Meles Zenawi in Ethiopia as well).
