The controversies surrounding the animosity of Meles Zenawi (whether or not to treat him as the enemy of Ethiopia) are settled now because of his hostile deeds and policies. Meles Zenawi himself has cooperated in clarifying and ascertaining this crucial issue and even his die hard supporters and greedy followers are finding it difficult to convince us that he is otherwise (not an enemy). I understand that the opposition operating in Ethiopia under the consent (constitution) of Meles Zenawi is in dilemma regarding this issue.
Meles Zenawi has been devising and using all the means at his disposal to promote ethnicity and ruin the Ethiopian identity. However, he has not succeeded in achieving his overall evil objective due to the resistance (peaceful or otherwise) put up by Ethiopians from all walks of life and parts of Ethiopia. The resistance against the destructive missions of Meles Zenawi has not been momentous and forceful enough to remove him from the land of Ethiopia. His ejection from Ethiopia, the land he hates most and works diligently for its destruction, is long over due.
He has been helped more by the prevailing disunity and disarray in the forces of opposition or resistance and continues to pursue his destructive agenda in all areas. Time and again it is important to note the fact that it is neither his or his foreign master`s canniness which has been favouring and prolonging his grip on Ethiopia. The confusions and divisions and the resultant partial paralysis within the opposition have been blessings to Meles Zenawi and his foreign masters. In the face of this deplorable situation, Meles Zenawi does not mind or show the slightest concern when carrying on his mission of seceding the legal Ethiopian territory and assaulting renowned Ethiopian public figures. The incarceration and suffering of the renowned singer and/or vocalist Tewodros Kassahun (Teddy Afro) is part of Meles Zenawi`s wider assault scheme against Ethiopia and the Ethiopian identity.
The young artist has been upholding, praising and singing Ethiopian identity and unity. In doing so the artist has taken a lot of risk since Meles Zenawi criminalizes and punishes any form of expression of unity and love for Ethiopian identity. That is why Ethiopians inside and outside the country acclaim and adore Teddy Afro as a hero embodying and symbolising our Ethiopian identity, spirit and unity all of which are under constant and relentless attacks by Meles Zenawi.
The eyes of Meles Zenawi and his ethnicist followers turn red when they see such personalities and would not leave any stone unturned to get rid off them. The renowned Ethiopian and the late professor Asrat Woldeyes had suffered and perished at the hands of TPLF-Meles.
There are definitely many other Ethiopians who have faced the same fates. Unless we rise and act in unison to remove him from our country, Meles Zenawi will carry on his search and destroy operation aimed at any expression of Ethiopian identity and unity in every nook and cranny. The longer he stays
in control, the more will be the loss he inflicts on our Ethiopian identity, sovereignty and unity.
As a result, we are continuing to pay heavy prices for our disunity and inaction. Lack of self confidence and reliance are leading many of us to look for external saviors in the United States. We used to seek the mercy of the almighty God. Now we are seeking the mercy of the United States of America. We should not expect the US or any external power to save us and put our home in order.
The crisis facing Ethiopia is not primarily political as some circles depict, but it has to do more with sovereignty and survival. Political crisis can happen even in the developed countries but does not jeopardize their very existence. Thus a political crisis of any kind can be tackled and solved without resorting to the acts of conflict and disintegration. Regrettably, what is happening in Ethiopia is beyond the bounds or mechanisms of normal democratic politics. Ethiopia has been reduced to an entity struggling to survive under Meles-TPLF in the last 18 years. I think no country in the world is facing a crisis of this nature.
Release Teddy Afro and all other prisoners of conscience in Ethiopia!
Ethiopia shall prevail and survive.
